In the 1980s, wine aficionados knew almost nothing about the wines of Washington State. But today, the region is world-renowned and Apex Cellars deserves much of the credit. In fact, Apex’s owner was twice recognized as “winemaker of the year” in Washington State (the only person to ever win two times). He has also won hundreds of awards for the red and white varietals he produces at Apex Cellars.

| Wine Description
|
| Impenetrably dark in color while bursting with fruit in the bouquet, look for raspberries, blueberries, and plums with hints of cinnamon, smoke, earth, and game. These elements show up again in the lush texture of the palate and the lingering finish, making this a wine to savor immediately even as we contemplate its delicious future. |

| Brian Carter was a microbiology major at Oregon State University in the late 1970s. A wine appreciation class seemed like an interesting elective, and that class spurred him to visit local wineries. His interest soon became his calling, and today Brian Carter is one of the most respected winemakers in Washington State. |
